Economic Liberty Conference

On Tuesday 16th February, the Legatum Institute and Liberty Capital hosted a conference on Economic Liberty to Promote Growth. Over lunch, the conference was privileged to hear a keynote address by President Saakashvili of Georgia. President Saakashvili has presided over radical economic reforms in Georgia which have resulted in sharp growth and increased national prosperity all at a time of volatility both in the global markets and domestic security. After lunch, there were two panel discussions. The first panel focused on Policies of Liberty: Assessing Economic Reforms on Three Continents. The panelists were: Ambassador John Danilovich - former CEO of the Millennium Challenge Corporation, Mauro De Lorenzo - Templeton Foundation, and Greg Mills - Brenthurst Foundation.


The second panel focused on Investing in Liberty: Allocating Capital in Enterprising Countries. The panelists were: Lado Gurgenidze - Liberty Capital; former Prime Minister of Georgia, Runa Alam - Chief Executive Officer of Development Partners International, and Dambisa Moyo - Author and Economist.
