The Legatum Prosperity Ladder is a simple framework illustrating how we allocate financial, intellectual and human capital in order to promote prosperity.
At Legatum we apply our global investment experience to
allocate capital where it may deliver the highest returns, whether measured in
financial terms or in positive life change. By actively seeking opportunities
that emerge during times of transition, we direct resources where they will be
productively employed – from the developed global markets where public capital
is readily available at low cost, to the billions of people at the bottom
of the pyramid who have extremely limited access to capital.
Applying proven, common-sense ideas, we learn from our
real world experience and the insights generated from the activities of the
Legatum Institute, the Legatum Prosperity Index™, and the Legatum Center at
MIT. In cases where standardised metrics are not available - particularly in
determining social impact - we develop new measures to evaluate performance and
ensure accountability.
